We believe this enhances our Player Development Programme (providing the opportunity to go up against some of the best clubs from across the globe such as Ajax), Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and a number of English sides to name just a few. The last year has seen our Academy players compete in some of the most competitive competitions across Europe (including the UEFA Youth League), Premier League International Cup, and other various tournaments across the continent.

Why do we only have 1 camera for filming training or games on the pitch outside the main door of Lennoxtown instead of multiple to ensure we are seeing everything and not some pretty poor-quality footage from 1 vantage point? It’s the same at AGMs, loads of questions about spending money on the things we see on a Saturday as we go to the ground. Throughout the transfer window people were rightly scrutinising our recruitment policy, our scouts, head of recruitment and shouting from the heavens for the board to open up the purse strings and spend some money, but very few people were asking who we have within the club that might be able to step up. I see the club becoming smarter and finally recognising that player development is not solely about producing technically gifted footballers. That is where boys begin becoming men. You cannot recreate that atmosphere on a training pitch, no matter how modern the facilities or how talented the coaches may be. It is played by experienced defenders who have no interest in protecting a young player’s confidence and midfielders who will compete for every loose ball as though their livelihoods depend on it.
